Job Summary

Dr. Roberto Machado's laboratory in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep and Occupational Medicine is in search of a Research Analyst. The laboratory has several animal colonies.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Maintains laboratory animal database and breeding schemes to meet desired project goals.
• Assists with animal experiments and general laboratory duties as needed.
• Prepares reports and analyses of animal numbers and planned experiments.
• Maintains large animal colonies for ongoing studies involving Pulmonary Hypertension which includes breeding and weaning, identification, and maintenance of an existing Excel database.
• Assists senior scientists with their colonies to meet their animal needs.
• Assists in bronchoalveolar lavage preparation and cytospins, staining, and microscopic analyses.
• Assists scientist in preparing echocardiogram data for investigators.
• Assists in genotyping as needed.
• Assists senior animal surgeons as needed with injections and with harvests.
• Performs other general lab duties as necessary.

Working Conditions / Demands

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This position requires comfortability with handling rodents and rodent samples.

45,000 - $52,000 per year based on experience and internal equity
