The Entry Level Swim Instructor shadows and assists with instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes.
Education/Experience/Training/Certifications
- At a minimum, some high school level education (over 16+ years of age)
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification, and Emergency Oxygen fromthe Red Cross
- Obtains YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent at the first certification course offered by the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit after hire.
- Free Training!
- Shadows and prepares swimming lessons according to the YMCA guidelines
- Builds authentic relationships with students and parents
- Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules as appropriate
- Maintains records as required and attends staff meetings and trainings
- Performs other assigned duties as directed by the supervisor
- Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.
- Ability to lift equipment and to lift a small to average-sized child.
