We are seeking a Medical Records Specialist to join our team. The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for managing the medical records including preparing, storing, and retrieving patient health records and insurance documents.The Medical Records Specialist works independently but is part of a larger team within the Revenue department.
Essential Functions
- Receives and tracks documents and information from paper sources and / or electronic health record.
- Responds to requests for patient records, both within the facility and by external sources, retrieving them and transmitting them appropriately
- Safeguards patient records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Performs other clerical tasks as needed, such as answering phones, faxing, printing, scanning and following up on information requests.
- Understand and follows the subpoena policy and procedure.
- Follows company policies and procedures regarding sending / receiving medical records, including billing and documentation.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
