Job descriptionStrong understanding of State regulatory requirements, including CTDEEP Remediation Standard Regulations Ability to make quick decisions regarding regulatory applicability and respond to clients in an efficient manner Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Willingness to mentor junior staff and work in a team-based atmosphere Motivated and able to problem-solve Strong knowledge of site assessment / characterization, data analysis, and remediation techniques Experience working on contaminated sites throughout Connecticut including interaction with local, State, and Federal regulators (CTDEEP, CTDPH, and EPA) Familiarity working in urban environments, managing soil and groundwater on construction sites, and performing ASTM Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments Familiarity with state regulatory programs ( Property Transfer, Voluntary Remediation, and Brownfields). Experience developing and implementing Remedial Action Plans, EPA Quality Assurance Project Plans, and PCB Cleanup Plans RCRA, TSCA, PCB, and Brownfield experience a plus B.S. in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related field 5-8 years of environmental consulting experience (remediation focus) required Masters Degree preferred OSHA 40 hr. Senior Environmental Scientist Site Investigation & Remediation | Wethersfield, CT
VHB's Wethersfield, CT office has a need for an experienced Senior Environmental Scientist to join our growing Site Investigation & Remediation practice!
Responsibilities
- Manages, plans, develops, organizes, and implements environmental investigation and remediation projects
- Explores subject area, defines scope, selects areas for investigation, and develops novel concepts
- Determines client requirements and develops plans, specifications, drawings, instructions, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, and related documents
- Leads research teams to solve complex problems
- Investigates any quality problems that lead to project changes and modifies project plans as needed
- Ensures each project complies with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
- Establishes and monitors budgets to assess profitability
- Represents VHB at meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders
- Responsible for client relationships, visibility, and business development
- Provides direction and guidance to technical team members and reviews their work for technical accuracy
- Mentors and may supervise junior team members
