Job description
Position Overview We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable AP Environmental Science (APES) tutor to lead after-school or Saturday tutoring sessions for high school students preparing for the AP Environmental Science exam. This position offers the opportunity to work with a small group of motivated students (10-15 per session) in a supportive and focused learning environment. Sessions will begin in March and run once per week for 1-2 hours each session.
Responsibilities
Plan and lead engaging, effective tutoring sessions designed to reinforce key concepts and skills from the AP Environmental Science curriculum.
Utilize your own study materials or collaborate to identify and acquire additional resources, if needed.
Foster a supportive and collaborative learning environment that encourages participation and inquiry.
Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to help students build confidence and improve their understanding.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or working towards) or higher in Environmental Science, Biology, Earth Science, or a related field (teaching certification preferred but not required).
Strong knowledge of the AP Environmental Science curriculum and exam structure.
Experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring high school students, particularly in a small-group setting.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
Schedule and Compensation
Sessions will be held once per week, either after school or on Saturdays, starting in March.
Each session will be 1-2 hours, with a total of 10-15 students per session.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
