The Calibration Technician performs in-house calibrations and repairs of handheld pipettes and various laboratory equipment. Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments.
Responsibility
- Uses internal policies and procedures to perform testing and calibration on a wide range of basic laboratory equipment in accordance with all regulatory requirements. This includes laboratory pipettes, balances, robots, etc.
- Responsible for the calibration of environmental monitoring systems throughout the laboratory.
- Responsible for calibration of all handheld pipettes throughout the laboratory.
- Responsible for calibration of balances and other laboratory measuring equipment.
- Completes training for all applicable instruments and calibration processes.
Qualifications
HS Degree and minimum or 1 year of relevant experience in an engineering or laboratory testing field or
Physical Requirements
Lifting Requirements - medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending / descending, communicating, observing, reaching, and repetitive motion. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions. Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions - exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and / or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, and radiant energy hazards. OSHA Category I - duties performed routinely requires exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.
