Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Create stock length cost proposals for customers based on elevation take-offs, using our price book and computer softwareWrite orders, purchase requisitions, and metal requestsProvide pricing of change orders and backorders to insure accurate invoicingProvide detailed estimates to our customers in a timely manner. Work from architectural drawings and specifications, shop drawings or elevation take-offsFollow up on estimates and provide feedback concerning market pricing levelsAchieve acceptable sales and margin levels. Monitor actual vs. estimated costs and work with leadership to adjust standards accordinglyEnter orders, door fab sheets, metal requests, and assist walk in customersProvide consultation, coordination, and assistance to our clients, sales force and internal personnelMaintain detailed and organized records of bid documents, correspondence and other project specific informationTravel with outside sales personnel as required to promote customer relationsAssist with phone coverageSkills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements
To be considered for the Estimator position, the following conditions must be met :
Prior experience estimating mid-size glazing projects form architectural drawings and specifications a plus.Ability to read, interpret, & understand architectural drawings and specifications and provide detailed take offs and estimates that incorporate different building envelope solutions.Experience using computer software estimating programs to prepare estimates of aluminum glazing systems & their application.Strong geometry & math skills.Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, phones, prioritize workload & work with minimal supervision.Must be able to communicate effectively & conduct themselves professionally; excellent written & verbal communication skills.Autocad / Revit experience and skill set a plusNeed to have good working knowledge of fabrication and installation in order to have good understanding of customer needs.Microsoft Excel experience a plus.Equipment

This position is a largely sedentary; however, caution needs to be taken when lifting files, boxes, opening file cabinet drawers.To avoid injuries to hands, back and neck, proper ergonomics should be maintained while working at desk / workstation.There are occasional visits to the plant floor in which case safety rules related to the plant must be followed; including wearing necessary safety equipment while out on the plant floor.Work Environment
