ROLE SUMMARY
The Facilities Maintenance Manager role will be responsible for managing the Polaris maintenance team members and contractors that support maintaining and repairing the cGMP processing equipment, process and building utilities plus the building infrastructure and equipment. The main responsibility is to manage all aspects of facility and equipment management for a cGMP commercial manufacturing facility, so it is in an audit ready state with minimal downtime. This position will be responsible for any maintenance procedural and work plan changes, deviations related to equipment / system issues plus supporting equipment / system reliability reviews. This role will primarily collaborate with the Facilities Planner / Scheduler, Calibration Manager, Manufacturing Services Manager, and the Facilities Director to ensure routine and unplanned activities are scheduled to minimize production downtime. This role will also require after-hours support for alarm response and emergency issues that may arise. This role is considered a “working” manager position, requiring hands-on troubleshooting and repairs plus performing routine maintenance activities. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for training and performing assessments for the maintenance staff. This role will also support providing the scope of work for contract development for the various contractors supporting the facility. The position will report directly to the Facilities Director.
SKILLS
- Advanced mechanical skills and troubleshooting knowledge for the Process Equipment / Systems for a cGMP Commercial Fermentation Facility (i.e., fermenters, microfluidizers, centrifuges, chromatography skids and columns plus the equipment that supports these operations).
- Advanced mechanical skills and troubleshooting knowledge for the Process Utilities and Building Utilities / Systems (i.e., Purified Water, WFI, Clean Steam, Process Air, CIP, HVAC etc.).
- Proficiency with repair tools and techniques.
- Excellent communication and people skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of employees, guests, vendors, and team members.
- Versed in Deviation, CAPA and SOP writing.
- Understanding of true priorities and great at consistent follow-up.
- Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization abilities.
- Keen attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and comfortable standing or walking for extended periods of time.
