BioEYES is an award-winning, K-12 hands-on science education program that provides classroom-based learning opportunities through the use of live zebrafish. We are seeking an Outreach Educator I who will be responsible for teaching outreach programs in schools in partnership with the classroom teacher, training participating teachers, collaborating with other
educators and BioEYES locations to update programs and materials and perform a variety of other tasks necessary to keep the program running.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Coteach in Baltimore classrooms 3x per week.
- Facilitate teacher training workshops.
- Coordinate with teachers to schedule BioEYES classroom visits and preliminary information (evaluation and approval forms)
- Order equipment and supplies necessary for program and office operations.
- Oversee outreach fish tanks and breeding regimen in fish facility.
- Oversee student and teacher evaluation process.
- Collect student and teacher evaluation data.
- Collaborate with all BioEYES sites and other outreach educators.
- Develop metrics for success.
- Provide reports and program updates to upper management.
- Outreach and program recruitment activities.
- Summer programming.

JHU Equivalency Formula : 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
