As a Project Engineer in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards, is responsible for the activities related to an assigned organizational element, program, project or task. Will normally plan, conduct and supervise engineering design reviews and analysis assignments involving a major project or several smaller or less complex projects. These projects by nature of their complexity and difficulty require the fully competent application of conventional knowledge in a particular field of engineering or scientific field. Project work and assignments may be broad in nature requiring ingenuity and cross functional coordination.
What You Will Do :
- Perform dynamic analysis and detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) calculations of structures subjected to blast, seismic and wind loads.
- Independently develop analytical models using FEA software packages to solve complex dynamic analysis problems.
- Conduct dynamic analysis and design of structures and equipment to resist blast loads from high explosives, vapor cloud explosions, and bursting pressure vessels.
- Perform non-linear, transient dynamic analysis of concrete and steel structures as well as other advanced materials using Anti-terrorism / Force protection (AT / FP).
- Execute blast resistant structural analysis and design (, conceptual and final) of diverse facilities including control rooms, warehouses, I&E shops, maintenance shops and administration facilities in support of Facility Siting Studies (FSS), Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), and protective containment structures.
- Perform site inspections to collect structural data.
- Support explosion incident investigations by surveying structural damage to determine the magnitude of explosion blast loads, directional indicator mapping to determine explosion sources, evidence collection and storage to maintain chain of custody, among other related activities.
- Prepare technical reports and calculation documents.
- Develop tools for internal use to increase engineers’ efficiency, investigating potential new techniques to design and analyze structures, create dashboards for clients to review results, etc.
- Develop positive client relationships on project assignments.
- Facility Siting Analysis
- Explosion, Fire and Toxic Modeling
- Explosion Testing and Similitude Modeling
- Advanced Finite Element Analysis : Nonlinear static, Nonlinear transient dynamic
- Advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics Analyses
- Root Cause Analysis
What You Will Need :
Education and Experience :
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
It Would Be Nice If You Had
Reporting Relationships :
Reports to Director, Consulting
Working Conditions :
Work will normally be performed in an air-conditioned office environment. Occasionally, the incumbent will be required to visit manufacturing plants, remote field sites, or go aboard marine vessels or structures. Work will be non-manual, but the incumbent must be able to walk and climb among equipment and structures. Occasionally may have to lift between ‒ pounds.
