Job description

Physical Therapist to work at David Grant Medical Center, Travis AFB, California .

The Physical Therapy Clinic evaluates, diagnoses, and develops patient treatment plans. Physical therapists use exercise, mobilization, manipulation and modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound or electrical stimulation to restore function, improve mobility and decrease pain.

The Physical Therapist will provide rehabilitative services to our nation's Active Duty service members, their families, and retirees.

DUTIES OF THE PHYSICAL THERAPIST :

  • Test and measure the patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and / or respiratory and circulatory efficiency. Record findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
  • Administer appropriate modalities to relieve pain, using available equipment, as well as pharmaceuticals.
  • Administer joint mobilization / manipulation and soft tissue mobilization, applying knowledge of mobilization techniques and body physiology.
  • Instruct patient and family in therapeutic exercises and treatment plans / procedures to continue in clinic and / or at home.
  • Evaluate, fit, adjust and prescribe orthotic devices and recommend modification as required.
  • Provide documented treatment, discharge and referral recommendations to members of the staff in routine, emergency, and special cases as needed.
  • Perform a full range of physical therapist services in accordance with the scope of clinical privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Utilizes a wide range of concepts, principles, and methodologies of the therapeutic field to provide examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, and outcome assessment for Department of Defense (DoD) beneficiaries.
  • Provide appropriate therapeutic procedures and provide a full range of therapy services in support of patient referrals and direct access (no referral).
  • All patient contact and care shall be safe, and timely, result in the achievement of realistic and documented treatment goals, and comply with or satisfy the intent of the referring medical staff (when referred).

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PHYSICAL THERAPIST :

  • Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from a physical therapy program acceptable to the USAF Surgeon General and accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.
  • Graduate from a college or university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • At least 24 months of experience within the past 36 months as a physical therapist working in an outpatient orthopedics setting and minimum 12 months of acute inpatient physical therapy experience within the past 7 years.
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in any of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or U.S. Territories.
  • U.S. Citizen (required for access to Government computer systems)

  • Full-Time; 40hrs per week
