NextGen Federal Systems, LLC (NextGen) is seeking a proactive, experienced, and entrepreneurial professional for the role of Technical Director – Digital Engineering supporting Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) programs. Successful candidates need to thrive in a fast-paced environment, wear multiple hats, and be driven by strong growth potential within a highly competitive market.
This position provides an important leadership role in the delivery and growth of a diverse portfolio of Digital Engineering (DE) solutions and technical services. Responsibilities span leading project execution, engaging with the digital engineering community, developing innovative solutions, and enabling staff professional growth, to further grow this line of business at NextGen. As a technical leader and mentor in the company, the Technical Director reports to a Division Manager and regularly collaborates with executive and senior management staff to contribute to the overall growth and benefit of the company.
NextGen Digital Engineering teams build high fidelity digital prototypes employing Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Digital Mission Engineering (DME), and Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) approaches in support of new systems development across the system lifecycle, from requirements through design and testing. Our teams use a digital engineering ecosystem to deliver digital threads that integrate SysML models (typically developed in Cameo) with MS&A tools such as ModelCenter, STK, AFSIM, OneSAF, NGTS, Ansys models (HFSS, Fluent, etc.), Python, and Unreal Engine.
The Technical Director provides overall technical guidance for Digital Engineering efforts and leads development of technology roadmaps to help grow the business. This position leads and supports customer interface and engagement, provides guidance to technical teams, and supports programs and program managers with technical requirements.
The Technical Director is involved in project execution as needed : can act as a technical lead, a subject matter expert, or a system architect. The Technical Director helps implement DE and software engineering processes and is involved in corporate process improvement efforts as needed.
The Technical Director supports business development (BD) activities through opportunity evaluation, technical solutioning, and proposal development. BD support includes development and delivery of value propositions to help programs grow as well as create new opportunities in adjacent markets. Significant interaction with customers, partners, and community stakeholders is expected to position the company to win new business.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Must be a self-starting, high-energy leader focused on delivering results as well as promoting strong employee and customer engagement.
- Must have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and be willing / able to lead complex technical tasks.
- Technical Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related technical domain
- Deep and broad understanding of Digital Engineering (DE) concepts, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) practices, Digital Mission Engineering (DME) methods, and Modeling Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) tools.
- Understanding of software technologies, standards, processes, and metrics; Ability to implement DevSecOps techniques including use of CI / CD pipelines
- Understanding of software architectures (including cloud-based and containerized systems) and execution of the software development lifecycle
- Knowledge of relevant US DoW programs and systems
