Job Description
Since 2006, Goldberg and Associates has built a steadfast reputation of success in immigration law. We are growing and are looking for a passionate and driven Federal Litigation Attorney to join our team.
The Federal Litigation Attorney will manage a diverse federal litigation docket, including substantial legal writing and research in matters pending in multiple U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Courts of Appeals, and, when appropriate, petitions for writ of certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court. This role requires excellent analytical judgment, high-volume drafting, and disciplined deadline management.
LOCATION : 14370 Ventura Blvd. Sherman Oaks, California 91423 (hybrid after 90 days)
SALARY RANGE : $_____ to $_____ (DOE)
Responsibilities :
- Manage and advance federal litigation matters from inception through resolution, including case strategy, factual development, and client counseling.
- Draft and revise high-quality federal pleadings and papers, including complaints, amended complaints, motions, oppositions, replies, declarations, requests for judicial notice, and proposed orders.
- Conduct rigorous legal research and analysis involving federal statutes, regulations, and constitutional issues, including application of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, local rules, judges' procedures, and standing orders.
- Prepare appellate briefing and related submissions, including notices of appeal, excerpts of record / appendices coordination, opening / answering / reply briefs, and relevant motions practice in the Courts of Appeals.
- Assist with (and, as appropriate, lead) Supreme Court-related work, including research and drafting in support of petitions for writ of certiorari and merits-stage briefing when applicable.
- Oversee and participate in discovery practice, including drafting and responding to written discovery, coordinating collection / production, and preparing discovery-related motions when needed.
- Coordinate filings in CM / ECF and related systems; ensure strict compliance with formatting, procedural rules, and deadlines across multiple jurisdictions.
- Communicate professionally and timely with courts, clients, opposing counsel, and internal team members; provide clear status updates and next-step recommendations.
- Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to maintain organized case files (paper and electronic) and to ensure accurate calendaring and deadline tracking.
- Assist with hearing and trial preparation as needed, including witness / exhibit organization and briefing support.
