Overview

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

A fiber tech will install terminate, fusion splice test and document single-mode and multi-mode fiber
Work with all fiber types – indoor / outdoor, OSP, armored, tight buffer, loose tube, OM2, OM3, OM4, OM5.
A Network Technician may be required to perform any of the duties and responsibilities associated with classification NI (Network Installer) in addition to the following;
Lays out work and preps materials for installation.
Operates and hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
Meets attendance standards and complies with late / absence notification procedures.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum one year of commercial fiber optic installation experience.

Experience terminating anaerobic & unicam connectors, LC, ST, SC, APC

Experience fusion splicing connectors & pig-tails / cassettes

Experience operating fusion splice machines – Fujikura & Sumitomo

Experience operating Fluke and OTDR testers & familiarity with fiber optic connector acceptable fiber db loss

Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills.

Must understand basic communications theory and its application to installations.

Must be able to work overtime as required, up to 56 hours a week.

All applicants will be subject to background check and drug screen.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms

Regularly lift and / or move objects 10-50lbs occasionally lift and / or move objects that weigh more than 10 lbs.

Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance

Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.

Ability to perform duties in extreme varying temperatures, e.g., exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions, on your feet, 8 to 10 hours daily, up to 6 days a week.
