Compensation Range for a Fiber Optic Technician :

• The base pay rate range for this position is $28.00 to $33.00 per hour
• Shift differential pay available for night work

Position Summary :

This position is responsible for basic fiber splicing; preparation, installation and repair of single fiber optic cable using fusion splicing equipment. Under supervision, performs limited testing of fiber. Preferred Knowledge and Experience :

This position requires a combination of mobile and sedentary work with the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, to perform work frequently in close quarters, crawl spaces, manholes, and other confined areas. The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways and to perform work in a confined space. Crouching and climbing where body agility is emphasized is required on a frequent basis. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move equipment and objects up to 75 pounds. Must be able to meet physical requirements to perform work using equipment including, but not limited to, ladders and bucket truck operating lifts. Visual acuity to perform activities related to computer work, finger dexterity for keyboarding and operating related job equipment and hand tools.
