Purpose

The Field Supervisor reports to the Senior Manager, Rail Operations, and will be assisting supervising the team of Locomotive Engineers, Dual certified. The team is based out of Denver and Grand Junction. We are looking for an individual with strong leadership skills who can make sound decisions even in stressful circumstances.
Key Areas of Accountability
- Involved in every aspect of supervising the team, including; recruiting, interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling.
- Ensures consistent application of employee guidelines, processes, and procedures.
- Assists with the training American Armstrong Collective team members. Will develop, coordinate, revise training material.
- Administer qualifications, certifications, and re-certification testing of current and potential employees in accordance with FRA regulations and policies and procedures.
- Assists with scheduling Locomotive Engineers. Dual Certified.
- Investigates accidents, incidents, disputes, and disturbances. Completes appropriate reports and necessary documentation. Will assess the ability of Dual Certified Engineers to continue in service when investigating accidents, incidents, and potential substance abuse problems.
- Interfaces with the host railroads, community groups, and contractors.
- Troubleshoots rail car and locomotive problems and operates trains as required.
- Support the successful execution of the Operating Plan.
- Provide safe movement and handling of rail equipment
- Support the company's material handling and maintenance strategies
- Support operation and equipment availability requirements.
- Support 5S Lean methodology to seek continuous improvement efficiencies.
- Conducts time point and passenger load checks to ensure schedule and route efficiency and perform operational testing as required.
- Serves as an extra-board Dual Certified Engineer when team members are sick or on vacation.
- All job-related duties as assigned.
- Availability to work unusual hours such as nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications
This position is deemed Safety Critical and pre-employment testing will be required. Final candidates must successfully pass a safety critical medical exam and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. This position will also be included in the pool for random drug and alcohol testing. Pre-employment and This position requires you to periodically access an active railway area where impaired performance could result in a significant incident affecting the health and safety of team members, guests, the public, property, or the environment.
