Are you passionate about film and the performing arts, and delivering events and programs that celebrate cultural awareness and understanding? Do you have good organizational and communication skills? If so, you might be the perfect candidate for the role of Arts + Ideas Film Festival Intern in our Arts + Ideas Department at the Stroum Jewish Community Center.

The Seattle Jewish Film Festival (SJFF) is looking for a motivated, organized, and dynamic Intern to support the largest Jewish event in the Pacific Northwest and one of the largest film festivals in the region. SJFF is a highly anticipated annual cultural arts public event. A cornerstone of the Stroum Jewish Community Center’s community building mission, SJFF is a cinematic celebration of global Jewish and Israeli life, history, stories and culture that amplifies profound Jewish connections for everyone in the region. The Arts + Ideas / Film Festival Intern will play a supportive role on SJCC Arts + Ideas Team, assisting with administrative planning, preparations, communications, promotions and event operations. Requirements :

Flexible schedule : Approximately 5-10 hours per week for 10 weeks from December to end March, working in office and / or remotely. Additional hours may be available working box office for events (with training.

Some of the duties and responsibilities of an Arts + Ideas / Film Festival Intern are to :

  • Research films and contact potential filmmakers / distributors.
  • Assist with print trafficking (festival film digital downloads and print shipments).
  • Contribute to festival promotion and outreach.
  • Depending on skill set, build pre-show trailer packages.
  • Box office setup and processing (training provided).Guest hospitality as needed.
  • Ushering and ticket scanning as needed.
  • Assist with Festival archive and record keeping.
  • Liaise with student / youth audiences and volunteers.
  • Support SJCC Arts + Ideas programs as needed.
  • Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

To be successful as an Arts + Ideas / Film Festival Intern, you should have the following knowledge, skills and / or abilities :

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, graphics or film editing software a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective at completing assigned duties according to set timelines.
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team setting.

  • Washington State Pay Range : $17 / hour – $19 / hour
  • Note : Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including but not limited to, skills, relevant experience, and specific work location.
