Director Of Finance Operations Patient Affordability

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for building and scaling a best-in-class finance operations function supporting complex, high-volume patient affordability programs. As Valeris continues to grow as a PE-backed organization, this role will play a critical part in strengthening financial discipline, enhancing control environments, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the business.

You will partner closely with senior leadership across Finance, Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Technology to drive scalable processes, improve financial transparency, and proactively manage risk in a dynamic and highly regulated environment

The Director of Finance Operations Patient Affordability provides strategic and operational leadership over financial operations supporting patient assistance programs, including copay and patient assistance program (PAP) structures.

This role owns the design and execution of scalable financial processes, ensures strong governance over restricted funds and program activity, and delivers actionable insights to support business performance and long-term sustainability. The Director will play a key role in strengthening the enterprise control environment while enabling efficient, high-quality program execution.

Responsibilities

What Success Looks Like (First 6-12 Months):

  • Establish scalable, standardized processes for restricted funds governance and reconciliation across programs
  • Strengthen the control environment, ensuring audit readiness and improved financial discipline
  • Improve visibility into program performance, liabilities, and financial exposure for leadership
  • Build and develop a high-performing Finance Operations team with clear accountability and ownership
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to support growth and efficiency

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership & Program Oversight
  • Lead end-to-end financial operations for patient affordability programs, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and governance standards
  • Drive financial discipline across program structures, balancing patient access objectives with strong financial stewardship
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Technology to align financial frameworks with program requirements
  • Restricted Funds Governance & Reconciliation Excellence
  • Own governance of restricted funds, including funding structures, disbursement controls, and reconciliation processes across programs
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of reconciliation items across high-volume funding accounts
  • Design and implement scalable, standardized reconciliation processes and program close-out controls
  • Accounting, Controls & Risk Management
  • Define and oversee accounting frameworks for patient affordability programs, including accrual methodologies, reserve strategies, and financial statement impact
  • Strengthen and evolve internal control environments to mitigate financial, operational, and regulatory risk
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and alignment with internal financial policies and governance standards
  • Vendor Financial Oversight
  • Provide strategic oversight of third-party administrators and program vendors, ensuring financial accuracy, accountability, and contractual compliance
  • Oversee invoice validation, financial reconciliation, and dispute resolution processes
  • Establish control frameworks to ensure data integrity, transaction accuracy, and appropriate program execution
  • Audit, Compliance & Governance
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance to evaluate financial implications of program design and execution
  • Lead audit readiness efforts and serve as a key stakeholder during internal and external audits
  • Support ongoing enhancement of governance frameworks to ensure consistent, compliant program execution
  • Financial Reporting & Executive Insights
  • Deliver comprehensive, timely, and accurate financial reporting on program performance, utilization, and financial exposure
  • Oversee the cash forecasting process, improving accuracy and visibility into financial position
  • Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for executive leadership
  • Define and monitor KPIs to assess program effectiveness and financial health
  • Operational Excellence & Transformation
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and financial accuracy
  • Drive transformation efforts, including automation, systems optimization, and data integration
  • Standardize and mature financial processes to support growth and increasing program complexity
  • Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing Finance Operations team
  • Establish clear accountability, performance expectations and development plans
  • Foster a culture of ownership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
