Director of Finance – USL Spokane
We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Finance to lead our financial operations with precision, confidentiality, and strategic insight. This role requires a meticulous attention to detail, a strong ability to analyze financial data, and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of discretion. This role will oversee day-to-day financial and payroll administration while providing critical analysis to drive business decisions. Under the direction of the USL Spokane Club President as well as the Aequus Sports LLC. Managing Partner, The Director of Finance provides financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic insight. This position is responsible for the daily financial and payroll administration for all staff, players, independent contractors as well as facilitating payments to external vendors and partners. This position reports directly to the senior leadership team and assists with various functions and projects. The Director of Finance has absolute responsibility to maintain confidentiality of all company financial information and prevent inappropriate disclosure. Additionally, this role must apply appropriate decision-making discretion in maintaining confidentiality of other company information obtained through the course of work and only share with authorized individuals. The Finance Director must be fully committed to the mission and values of USL Spokane and must have the ability to support an infrastructure which embraces commitment to community, safety, inclusion, and optimal performance.

The Director of Finance must be able to work regular shifts during the week and be available for work on weekends during home games when needed. This position requires flexible hours, extended days, and some evenings. This position must be located in Spokane and is an in-person role.
Key or Essential Functions
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the duties listed below. The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following :
Payroll and Administrative Functions :
- Leads the payroll function ensuring accurate and timely payment of all staff, players, and independent contracts.
- Oversees, tracks, and processes all employment payroll taxes including oversight of workers compensation premiums and varying rates tracking.
- Completes requests for garnishments.
- Serves as the primary liaison with the payroll vendor and is the subject matter expert for the payroll system.
- Processes bonus, commission, and other payments as requested by the Club President or Managing Partner.
- Processes new hires, terminations, benefit premiums, pay changes, and all other employment changes in the payroll system.
- Reviews all journal entries for payroll and audits payroll for accuracy.
- Trains employees and managers on the use of the payroll system to include how to request time off, using the timekeeping function for nonexempt employees, approving timecards, updating W-4 or auto deposit information, and other training as needed.
- Ensures accurate and timely payment of benefit carrier bills.
- Manages Expensify and reviews all requests for reimbursement or payment approval requests.
- Manages accounts receivables and payables.
- Conducts monthly accounts reconciliation including banking reconciliation.
- Maintains financial historical records and employee payroll records.
- May represent the finance function at leadership and executive meetings.
- Collaborates with Club President to ensure clear expectations on level of autonomy and reporting or approval procedures.
- Takes responsibility for communicating feedback clearly to the team and makes decisions that serve the business objectives of USL Spokane.
