Job Overview
The Office of Student Financial Aid is hiring an Associate Director. This position will report to the Director of Financial Aid and will assist in planning, administering, and managing the operational activities of the office. The ideal candidate should have experience in staff management and a strong understanding of federal, state, institutional, and external financial aid sources. Additionally, this candidate will be responsible for implementing policies and equipping staff with the necessary processes and training.
Essential Functions
- Direct and supervise internal operations needed to ensure the compliant awarding and delivery of federal, state, institutional, and outside agency aid. Coordinate the financial aid process for students including counseling students and parents, reviewing applications, determining eligibility and recommending alternatives.
- Update federal databases as needed in the execution of federal financial aid delivery.
- Analyze unit efficiencies and develop process improvements to comply with regulations and streamline delivery of aid to our students.
- Develop quality assurance measures to ensure accuracy and improve processing efficiencies.
- Monitor federally mandated U.S. Department of Education verification process and related application resolution processes.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures for the unit.
- Administer designated financial aid programs.
- Assist in the preparation and dissemination of financial aid data and reports.
- Assist in determining budget needs for the operating budget.
- Serve as liaison with other university offices and staff who are interested in financial aid policies and practices.
- Meet all program-mandated deadlines and assist with the yearly audit as assigned.
- Represent student financial aid on committees and meetings.
- Act for the director in his / her absence or request.
- May provide direct and / or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring / firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education
Required Trainings / Certifications Required Experience
Five (5) years of experience in financial aid operations.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Three (3) years of supervision experience.
