Financial Manager / Accountant
Reports to Executive Director / Assistant Director
General description : Responsible for the accounting and financial management of Homes on the Hill CDC.
Description of Duties :
- Maintains the accounting records of Homes on the Hill CDC (HOTH) and related entities. Processes cash receipts, accounts payable, cash disbursements and payroll. Reconciles bank accounts. Allocates costs in accordance with grant agreements and related rules. Records journal entries to maintain accounting records on an accrual basis.
- Prepares financial reports for board, management and staff so that the financial status of HOTH, its activities, and its cash flow can be monitored. Prepares an analysis of these reports and other financial data.
- Prepares financial reports for grantors to draw funds and to demonstrate accountability for funds. Coordinates the completion of reports with other staff.
- Works with the Executive Director and the Finance Committee of the Board to prepare and monitor the annual operating budget. Works with the Executive Director and staff to prepare and monitor funding source and activity budgets.
- Prepares and implements the indirect cost rate proposal.
- Coordinates the annual audit and the financial monitoring activities of funders.
- Coordinates benefits programs. Assists staff in applying for coverage under HOTH’s various benefit programs.
- Coordinates the filing and storage of the financial records of HOTH.
Skills and experience required :
Knowledgeable of real estate development accounting and nonprofit accounting. Experience with grants, including their restrictions and general reporting requirements. Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software. Proficient in using QuickBooks or similar accounting software. Good written and oral communications skills. Understanding of good office and business procedures.
Education : B.S. in accounting, finance, or business administration.

Homes on the Hill CDC (HOTH) is a nonprofit HUD approved housing counseling agency and Community Housing Development Organization. For over 30 years HOTH has been building the foundation for economically stable families in the Hilltop neighborhood and Central Ohio. Today HOTH is at the forefront of creating affordable housing by building new homes and selling or renting them to low-and-moderate income families. To help families gain access to and maintain stable housing, HOTH also offers free rental counseling, pre-purchase homebuyer education, post-purchase homeowner education, and foreclosure prevention counseling.
