You'll work side-by-side with architects and engineers on projects that span healthcare, corporate headquarters, laboratories, museums, government facilities, higher-education campuses, and major infrastructure improvements.

If you're passionate about fire protection, life safety, and designing environments that protect people and property, this is your opportunity to make an impact.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in the design and/or review of fire protection and life safety systems on multi-discipline projects.
Coordinate with and support other A/E disciplines.

  • Evaluate building and life safety requirements including building area and height limitations, building construction types, fire resistive assemblies and opening protections, occupancy classifications, hazards, building egress, and active and passive smoke management systems.
  • Provide construction administration support including coordination with field personnel to resolve design related installation issues, the review of contractor shop drawings and calculations, field inspections, and witnessing testing of fire protection systems.
  • Coordinate with all applicable local authority departments to obtain approval at all stages of the project, to include creation of code modification requests and engineering judgements.
  • Perform site evaluations and document existing fire protection systems.
  • Maintain and manage compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned all under the supervision of Senior Engineers.
You will need to have:
  • Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree from an ABET accredited program; Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional fire protection engineering experience, including familiarity with the International Code Council (ICC), NFPA 101, NFPA 13, and NFPA 72.
  • Registered Fire Protection PE.
  • NICET certification in Water-Based System Layout, Fire Alarm Systems, or Special Hazards Systems a plus (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) and may be considered as substitute for Bachelor of Science degree in an otherwise well qualified candidate a plus.
  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, fire codes, NFPA standards, FM Global datasheets, military standards, and refinery/industrial API guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access authorization to facilities and data of existing and potential clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Revit, BIM, and Microsoft Office skills required.
