JOB DESCRIPTION : Food Services Coordinator
Reports To : Director of CEC
Salary Band : Full Time (40 HRS)
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Food Services Coordinator is responsible for operations of food services, training interns, menu planning, scheduling, purchasing food and supply inventory, while all ensuring quality standards are upheld in the kitchen through proper food preparation, kitchen safety techniques and health standards. This position ensures that Gateway Center is represented correctly with its clients, partners, staff, and funders.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Customer-Service : position may have to interact with clients
- Teaching- Must have the ability to structure lesson plans and practical efforts with interning students
- Leadership : Must be able to lead a team to a successful kitchen and resolving conflicts and getting the job done.
- Management Skills : Must have the ability to deal with food costs and budget, contractors and partnered agencies, creating work schedules, menu planning, and food and safety standards
- Monitoring food usage to assure adequate supply
- Conducting reviews of GWC food service program to evaluate the effectiveness of the food and nutrition operations
- Responsible for teaching and conducting educational culinary training classes for incoming intern students every semester
- Experience offering and managing cooking classes
- Wide culinary range and background on various cuisines
- Ability to work a varied schedule in order to teach classes in the evening and operate kitchen duties during the day
- Ability to move / lift merchandise and / or food product
- Must possess a valid and current driver's license
- ServSafe Management Certification (required)
- Performing other duties as assigned
- QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, or a culinary degree.
- 5 years of experience managing and / or teaching in food services operations accepted in lieu of degree
- Ability to communicate effectively in written, oral and digitally.
- Possess ServSafe Management certification
- ServSafe Instructor and Proctor certification (not required, but a plus)
- Experience in quantity food preparation
- Experience in food cost and budget, and managing expense reports
- Developed in adequate teaching methods and training
- Must possess a current and valid driver's license.
