Job Description
Job Description
The Food Technologist supports in new product and process development, focusing on improvements and cost reductions. Key responsibilities include evaluating and reporting on initiatives, providing technical support to QA and Production personnel, and actively participating in R&D efforts. This role reports to the R&D Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assist in the formulation of new products and the reformulation of existing products. Fully participate and contribute to the product / project development process.
- Provide R&D support and demonstrate responsibility for project reports, technical support, research reports and meeting reports. Co-ordinate projects with Operations, Materials Control, Maintenance, Sales, Customer Service, Scheduling and QA departments. Provide follow up communication with internal departments.
- Support R&D with customer correspondence to obtain information on project requirements. Share project / product information within the R&D Department for the development of existing, new or innovative products and concepts.
- Ability to provide cost reductions, shelf stability studies, ingredient substitutions, specification reviews, new product certifications, etc., for new or existing products.
- Must have a thorough understanding of the product development cycle and be able to support a cross-functional team through a project's life cycle.
- Provide an ongoing commitment by engaging in industry knowledge and trends (both product and legal / regulatory sectors).
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
