Marine Operations Forklift Operator

UIC, Bowhead Transport seeks a seasonal, land / sea-based Forklift Operator to be always responsible for the safe operation of the forklift. The operator will offload and backload cargo on barges and in freight yards under the direction of the Barge Master and Cargo Operations Manager. Other tasks will routinely include lashing, housekeeping on the barge and yards, minor forklift maintenance, and report writing as needed. Regular travel throughout Alaska between the months of April through October is expected.

Responsibilities

Forklift Operator Essential Functions Include :

• Safely operate various cargo-moving equipment in yards, on barges, and in other unique environments
• Receiving cargo in preparation for voyage sailings
• Perform minor equipment maintenance and repairs
• Loading and securing cargo to the vessel
• Assist the Barge Master with creating all voyage documentation
• Extensive and frequent travel throughout Alaska between April & October
• Other duties as assigned

Physical & Environmental Demands :

The work environment varies and includes, but is not limited to dock, port, bay, beaches, waterways, office space, equipment rooms, warehouse space, construction zones, and outdoor environments. Qualifications

Where driving may be required or where a rental car must be obtained for business travel purposes, applicants must have a valid driver's license for this position and will be subject to verification.
