Description : Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to drive gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailer combinations, usually long distances, to transport and deliver products and materials in loose or packaged form to destinations. This position is primarily Over-The-Road driving up to six days per week and five overnights, and as little as 5 days per week and zero overnights.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Works to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers’ expectations. Follows the documented quality systems and processes that are continually being improved to satisfy our customers’ needs.
- Arrive on time for dispatch to ensure material arrives to the customer in a timely manner.
- Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits the report indicating the truck condition. Must conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- The driver is responsible for proper load securement and tarping.
- Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations, such as narrow passageways. Deliver material in a timely and efficient manner and handle any issues the customer may have.
- Maintains driver log according to FMCSA and DOT regulations using electronic log.
- Complete proper paperwork, packing lists, bills of lading, etc.
- Interact with customers in a respective manner to positively represent the company.
- Adheres to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Must have the ability to handle various weather conditions while on the road.
- May perform or assist workers in loading and unloading truck.
- May assist Logistics Manager or department in other duties and special projects.
