Job descriptionBachelor's degree in accounting. In lieu of degree, relevant experience may be considered. Five years of accounting experience required, non-profit accounting experience highly preferred. Valid driver's license, meet MVR driver's qualifications, and pass background checks. Willing to support the philosophy, goals, and mission of The Salvation Army. Extensive knowledge of accounting, budgeting, grant compliance, budgeting, and financial reporting. Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. High level of honor in dealing with confidential information. Works with integrity, valuing honesty and diligence. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to occasionally lift 30 pounds at a time. Competency with PC, Microsoft Office, Adobe, General Ledgers, and standard office equipment required. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, and work in person or on the phone for reasonable periods. Professional environment; eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)
- Maintain accurate ledgers, financial reporting, and budgeting (25%).
- Prepare timely financial statements and assist with budgeting, including assisting with preparation of consolidated financial statements (25%).
- Review and approve budgeting, accounting, and reporting functions of assigned departments / locations (15%).
- Act as a resource regarding complex financial transactions and reporting / tracking of funding (15%).
- Support and guide assigned departments / locations with understanding / monitoring financial matters and forecasting (10%).
- Develop and maintain internal accounting procedure manual (10%).
