Job description

Job Title : Affiliated Home Care Aide - Make a Meaningful Difference!

Job Description Summary :

Do you have a big heart and a desire to help others? As an Affiliated Home Care Aide, you’ll have the rewarding opportunity to assist clients who need a little extra support due to age, physical limitations, or other challenges. You’ll be their friendly helper, providing personalized care and support so they can continue to live comfortably in their own homes. Your assistance will bring joy and peace of mind, and you’ll become a valued part of their life.

Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities :

  • Personal Care : Assist clients with their daily routines, including bathing, dressing, grooming, using the toilet, and other personal care needs. We'll make sure they feel their best!
  • Mobility Support : Help clients move around safely, whether it's walking, transferring from bed to chair, or getting comfortable in their favorite spot.
  • Medication Reminders : Provide helpful reminders to take their medications (we can’t administer them, but we can lend a hand!).
  • Meal Assistance : Prepare nutritious and tasty meals, and assist with feeding, always keeping their dietary needs in mind.
  • Light Housekeeping : Keep their living space tidy and comfortable with light housekeeping tasks like laundry, dusting, and vacuuming. (Think of it as creating a cozy haven!)
  • Companionship & Emotional Support : Be a friendly face, engage in conversations, offer encouragement, and participate in activities that bring them joy. Your companionship is invaluable!
  • Respite Care : Give family caregivers a well-deserved break, providing support and peace of mind.
  • Errands & Outings : Accompany clients on shopping trips, errands, medical appointments, or outings, making sure they stay connected to the community.
  • Communication Assistance : Help with writing letters, making calls, or finding information online.
  • Observation & Reporting : Keep a watchful eye on clients' well-being and report any concerns to our team so we can ensure they receive the best possible care.
  • Documentation : Maintain accurate records of the care you provide.
  • Teamwork & Training : Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance your skills and stay up-to-date on best practices.
  • Safety First : Always follow our safety guidelines and policies to protect both yourself and our clients.

Qualifications :

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Listed on the Home Care Aide Registry.
  • A current Tuberculosis (TB) certificate.
  • Valid 1-9 Employment Eligibility Verification documents.
  • A completed Criminal Record Statement.
  • A current driver's license and valid vehicle insurance.
  • We prefer candidates with current American Heart Association BLS or Heart Saver / First Aid / AED CPR certification, but it’s not required.
  • You'll need to complete a minimum of five (5) hours of entry-level training before working with clients.
  • Having one (1) year of experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities is a plus!
  • What You Need to Shine :

  • Caring Nature : A genuine desire to help others and a compassionate heart.
  • Communication Skills : The ability to communicate clearly and kindly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Observation Skills : Keen attention to detail and the ability to notice changes in clients' condition or needs.
  • Reliability & Responsibility : We count on you to be punctual, dependable, and committed to providing excellent care.
  • Team Spirit : A positive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, and our team.
  • Physical Stamina : The ability to handle the physical demands of the job, such as standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting with client mobility.
  • A Glimpse into Your Workday :

  • Your day will involve a mix of standing, walking, and some sitting.
  • You'll be moving around, bending, and assisting clients, so being physically fit is important.
  • You might need to lift or carry items up to 24 lbs frequently and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
