This role will be 100% onsite in Clive, IA. Looking for candidates with Explanation of Benefits experience and the soft skills to work directly with customers regarding financial questions and understand the business need. This role will handle all in person and phone interactions with patients regarding cost estimates, benefits eligibility, pre-collections on surgeries, and initial collections.
Responsibilities :
Responsible for day-to-day administrative functions involving patient care including patient registration, insurance verification, prior authorizations, scanning, faxing, calculation, and collection and reconciliation of applicable deductible, copayments / co-insurance.
Will assist with calling patients and talking to patients in person in the clinic. Need someone that has the ability to speak with customers directly and NOT through text or email.
Must have an understanding of multiple surgical insurance coverages and medical insurance experience - provider vs. hospital experience! Must have primary or specialty healthcare experience and NOT dental or vision.
The system verifies patient benefits - will review benefits, apply deductibles and process cost. This role will also assist with follow up resolution where needed
For balances over 30 days - this person will call the patient regarding the balance, help them understand, and then set up a payment plan or take payment over the phone.
Will also handle pre-collections for surgeries in the hospital - will process cost and call patient to explain.
Will operate out of Fresia for eligibility and payments. Will also use All Scripts for client portals. These systems are easy to use but relatable experience helps!
Daily Duties :
Confirms insurance eligibility and referral requirements and secures signatures on required forms, including but not limited to, Financial Policy, Consent for Treatment, HIPAA, etc.
Ensures that all required referrals are secured and attached to the applicable appointment in the Practice Management system.
Scans and indexes patient documents.
Explains financial requirements to the patients or responsible parties and collects deductible, copayments / co-insurance and balances due as required.
Conduct pre-visit chart preparation, precertification and fax duties as assigned.
Responsible for providing complex benefits review for single visits and extended episodes of care. Reviews benefits to ensure that organization and patient understand the extent of coverage for services.
Provides combined cost estimates for facility and professional services. Accurately utilizes cost estimate technology to create cost estimates for services and communicates estimated costs to patients and other affected parties.
Provide financial counseling and billing information / options to patients.
Responsible for reviewing account details for patient education and / or correction :
Reviews balances and communicates to patient and other affected parties about outstanding balances.
Assists patients in resolving account questions and concerns.

Experience working with patients face to face regarding finances - 1+ years

Medical insurance experience - 1+ years
