Raba Kistner, Inc. is seeking a Geoscientist III to join our Environmental team in San Antonio, TX. The Geoscientist III responsibilities encompass supporting a successful business practice in Raba Kistner’s Geosciences Service Line. Responsibilities include leading, scheduling and performing field activities for complex Geoscience projects. This will include but not be limited to site visits, data collection, geologic mapping, geophysical assessments, and soils or groundwater sampling activities. The Geoscientist III responsibilities also include preparation of proposals and technical reports including graphics and detailed analysis of project data. The Geoscientist III will also lead and / or perform internal projects as needed including but not limited to the development of internal documents, databases, and statements of qualifications. The Geoscientist III will independently and successfully oversee or manage project budgets, subcontractors and clients and competently oversee, teach, mentor and train staff on performance of technical and other Geologist duties. Other responsibilities include :

  • Lead and / or conduct Phase I and / or Phase II ESAs in addition to field work and data reduction as necessary to complete Geosciences and Due Diligence projects with minimal supervision.
  • Lead and / or conduct field work and data reduction as needed to support geosciences components of projects executed by other Environmental Service Lines (Natural Resources, Regulatory Compliance, Cultural Resources).
  • Interpret technical information and prepare project reports and other deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • Design soil and groundwater sampling and analysis plans, install groundwater monitoring wells, and conduct sampling activities in accordance with established environmental protocols.
  • Actively contribute to the design and development of remediation plans and supervise / conduct the field work.
  • Design, communicate, and implement a project plan for completing projects. Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones. Coordinate and oversee activities of subcontractors on single or multiple assigned projects.
  • Lead and / or Conduct preparation of proposals and statements of qualifications (SOQs).
  • Conduct research and / or conduct "walk-throughs" of project sites for the purpose of preparing proposals for projects.
  • Competently assist in management of or oversee project budget and resources facilitate profitable project execution. This may include preparing calculations, designs, reports, and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets, and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors.
  • Proactively engage with clients, internal Raba Kistner staff, and sub-consultants to define project scope, schedule, and budget. Proactively execute technical duties and / or project financial management tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology. Master’s degree in Geology preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensed Professional Geoscientist (P.G.) in Texas, or the ability to obtain within 12-24 months of employment.
  • 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER / 8-hour refresher.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet company’s auto insurability requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of Texas geologic conditions with demonstrated proficiency in the San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and Houston metroplexes. Strong knowledge of soil, groundwater and surface water collection, storage and COC protocols. Proficient knowledge of Phase I and Phase II ESA requirements, components, procedures and protocols.

    Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc. Ability to effectively communicate information both written and oral and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.

    Work environment may require potential exposure occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne, toxic or caustic chemicals, wet or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation. Regularly deal with outdoor weather conditions and with vibration. Noise level for this position is moderate.

    This position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs.
