GIS Specialist at Avista Utilities in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, United States Job Description Description Closes : September 29, 2024Starting Range : $23.37 to $34.19 per hourFull Range : $23.37 to $37.98 per hour Job DescriptionUpdates and maintains GIS data related to Avista's gas and electric infrastructure to align with as-built designs. Collaborates with cross-functional teams such as Substation, Transmission, Engineering, Compliance, Dispatch, Gas, and Electric Operations to provide up to date GIS infrastructure data and ensure mapping compliance requirements are met. Responsibilities + Reads, interprets and configures traceable elements from various sources such as services, temps, meters, trouble reports, as-builts, blues, underground (ug) developments, overhead / underground reconductor jobs, compliance requirements, high pressure pipe, gas replacement projects etc. + Reviews, corrects, translates and completes all finished red-lined construction designs into the geo database. Responds to mapping and data request with internal customers in a professional manner. Creates maps and visual print outs for internal customers. + Uses built in QA / QC tools on construction designs posted into default to ensure correct application of construction standards, AFM connectivity, appropriate materials and government mandated compliance. Respsonible for the health of the utility GIS data. + Reconciles discrepancies / problems between field inventory and other source documents utilizing construction standards knowledge. Understands how to resolve design conflicts in a multi-versioned GIS environment. + Provides feedback and moderate technical assistance to design personnel (CPC's, gas and electric engineering and other GIS users) in properly utilizing AFM and the Design tools. + Tests proposed AFM code releases for functionality, completeness, connectivity, direct and / or hidden errors and determine where errors may impact data interaction. Requirements + GIS certification. + Specialized knowledge, experience and training on construction standards for electrical and gas distribution systems. GIS Specialist I : + 2 years of related experience. GIS Specialist II : + 4 years of related experience. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Coeur D'Alene, Idaho office at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with an additional day determined by the employee and manager.
