Fox Chapel Golf Club is a prestigious golf club dedicated to providing exceptional service and maintaining our beautiful course. We are seeking a motivated and skilled Assistant Mechanic to join our maintenance team and help ensure our equipment operates at peak performance.

Job Summary :

The Assistant Mechanic will assist the Head Mechanic in the maintenance, repair, and service of all golf course maintenance equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, a passion for golf, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of equipment performance.

Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, Pa , is looking for an Assistant Mechanic. This is an entry level, full-time position with overtime and weekend hours when necessary. Must be willing to work in a team environment and have a positive attitude. Must have the ability to take and follow instructions. This includes the ability to work together with the Head Mechanic, the Assistant Superintendents, and the Golf Course Superintendent. Basic mechanical knowledge required.

Requirements :

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist in the routine maintenance and repair of all golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, and utility vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed on equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the repair shop.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to support overall course maintenance operations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and best practices in equipment handling and repairs.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk, and crouch.
  • Ability to lift up to 50# and to lift overhead and push / pull / move lighter objects.
  • May be exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
  • Schedule and perform appropriate preventative maintenance work.
  • Check mowers for height and cut.
  • Perform routine functions of maintenance and repairs of golf course equipment.
  • Fill out service records on all equipment worked on.
  • Maintain shop area neat and organized.
  • Observe all appropriate safety rules and procedures.
  • Assist other departments with equipment-related concerns and needs.
  • Ability to work weekends as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in small engine repair or related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in equipment maintenance or repair, preferably in a golf course or landscaping setting.
  • Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical problems efficiently.
  • Ability to be trained on various equipment, i.e. checking mower’s height and cut.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
