Job Title

Remote Position within Division of Veterans Affairs

Job Description

This position works to uphold the integrity of the Veterans Affairs grants program by engaging with grant applications, data management, performance tracking, and overall support of the program to provide the best available service on behalf of our Colorado Veterans. Specific duties are listed below:

  • Grant Reimbursement & Compliance: Independently audits and validates grantee reimbursement requests against budgets and state rules, analyzes spending patterns to propose budget modifications, prepares reports and reviews grant reimbursements processed by the Program Assistant.
  • System Technical Support: Serves as the primary technical lead for the Neighborly grants management system, implements system workflows, troubleshoots programmatic issues, and develops user manuals.
  • Training & Compliance Tools: Designs and maintains functional tools for granteessuch as automated reimbursement calculators and reporting templatesto streamline submissions and maintain data accuracy. Facilitates legal tracking of all financial products to the grant for compliance with State and Federal audits and guidelines.
  • ADA Accessibility: Serves as the unit's technical resource for state ADA accessibility compliance by performing document remediation (tagging, alt-text, reading order) on templates, handbooks, and public materials.
  • Technical & Operational Support: Research and updates internal manuals and the Grantee Handbook to reflect statutory changes, provides training and guidance to grantees, identifies workflow bottlenecks, and proposes process improvements.
  • Other: performing other duties as assigned by the senior Grants Specialist, such as re-evaluating grant programs, reviewing applications, handling communication, proofreading, editing documents, policy and grant requirement interpretations and technical advice, as well as ensuring back-up during periods of absence.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience Only: Five years of demonstrated full-time professional experience in grants, accounting, or finance administration that included monitoring or administering grants of other restricted funds.
  • Or
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance. AND One year of professional experience in grants or accounting or finance administration that included monitoring or administering grants or other restricted funds.
  • Or
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Business, Accounting, or Finance AND Six months of demonstrated full-time professional experience in grants or accounting or finance administration that included monitoring or administering grants or other restricted funds.
  • College Transcripts: If you are using education to qualify, a legible copy of your official or unofficial college transcript(s) must be submitted with your application. Transcripts must show the name of the school, completed credit hours, and (if applicable) that a degree was conferred. Failure to provide a transcript may result in your application being removed from consideration in the selection process for this position.
