M i n i m u m Preparation for Work :
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in public administration, criminal justice, political science, business, communications, or related discipline appropriate to the position;
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in grant writing, preferably with a law enforcement / criminal justice focus. Prior experience through documentation should illustrate a proven track record of securing new grant funding opportunities; comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify opportunities specific to police department programs. Previous federal grant application, submission, approval and management of funds experience preferred.
- Combination of education, training, and / or work experience equal to or greater than the requirements listed above as determined by Human Resources.

N at u r e of Work :
This is highly responsible administrative work focused on grant processing for the Pensacola Police Department.
The Grant Compliance Specialist will identify, define and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. The primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to public and private grant opportunities in areas that support the police department's programs. The position is also responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on the performance of program activities that are funded by federal, state, and private funding agencies.
This position requires considerable independent judgment and initiative in carrying out assignments to a successful conclusion. Work is performed under the general direction of the Chief of Police or his / her designee. Work is evaluated through review of attained results.
Exam p l e s of Work :
Generates high-quality proposals, narratives, applications and supporting documents in response to solicitations consistent with all policies and procedures of the City of Pensacola and the Pensacola Police Department, and the requirements and guidelines of the funding agencies.
Generates revenues for the police department programs through timely submission of well-researched, well written and well-documented grant proposals.
Maintains primary responsibility for grant schedules and tracking grants.
Works with appropriate personnel to research, develop, write and submit letters of inquiry, concept papers and grant proposals.
Coordinates and follows-up on the progress of submitted proposals.
Coordinates with the police department's Finance Supervisor and the Chief of Police to create expenditure and income budgets to accompany proposals.
Informs Command Staff and answers questions regarding allowability of proposed expenditures related to all specific grants.
Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding sworn personnel, professional staff, sworn and civilian supervisors or other employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
