General Statement
Under direction, performs work at the professional level in the design and production of a variety of graphic presentations and materials.
Essential Job Functions

- Provides art direction, template design, photography, layout, typesetting, illustrating, editing and final production of professional quality brochures, newsletters and other communication materials; designs and / or edits presentations and printed exhibits in accordance with District brand guidelines; creates custom signage, forms and stationery in both electronic and printed format.
- Creates and / or edits graphics such as diagrams, maps, motion graphics and animation used to illustrate complex technical information; creates professional, custom-designed maps using existing graphics and data.
- Plans, writes and designs targeted communications materials including graphics, brochures and illustrations to clearly convey technical information to the general public or other specific audiences.
- Assists with web design and art direction for the District website.
- Photographs various district facilities, waterways and other subjects needed for graphics work; archives photographs; edits and processes images; mounts, mats and frames photos and other documents as needed.
- Meets with requesting departments to develop concepts and provide technical assistance related to the design and cost of graphics projects.
- Maintains and orders graphics supplies and equipment; plans the selection of materials for graphic projects; coordinates with external vendors for material purchases or production needs.

Work is performed in a typical office environment and requires the use of standard office equipment including computers.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a major in graphic design, marketing or communications.
Substitution
Experience in graphic design at the professional level may be substituted for the college study on a year-for-year basis. Technical training beyond high school in graphic design may be substituted for the college study on a year-for-year basis.
