Job description

Description

Ria opens ways for a better everyday life. With presence in over 200 countries and more than 600,000 locations worldwide, Ria is now the largest real-time cross-border money movement network in the world. We are dedicated to helping millions of people send money where it matters. Whether it's to loved ones at home or anywhere around the world, we know our customers deserve more than just a fair price—they deserve empathy, hope, and ultimately, respect.

We are Ria Money Transfer. A subsidiary of Euronet Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: EEFT), Ria is a leading expert in cross-border payments, delivering innovative financial services that are bridging the gap between digital and physical spaces. Ria’s omnichannel products and services provide unprecedented consumer choice, including currency exchange, mobile top-up, bill payment, check cashing, real-time payments, mobile wallets, home delivery, and cardless ATM payouts. Ria’s global infrastructure, powered by the Dandelion real-time, cross-border payments network, facilitates financial access for customers, agents and partners alike by creating new market opportunities and promoting economic growth around the world.

The Role. As a Design Engineer, you will turn design intent into a high-fidelity shipped experience, elevating execution quality through:
  • Micro-interactions
  • Animation
  • Haptics
  • Transitions
  • Visual polish
  • …while maintaining strong product thinking.

What a Design Engineer Is (and Is Not) --This role is not just a Frontend Developer. A Design Engineer:
  • Designs and codes
  • Applies design judgment during implementation
  • Bridges design ↔ code
  • Understands tools like Figma, design systems, and platform constraints
  • Owns the quality of the user experience

Core Responsibilities
1. UI Implementation with Design Judgment
  • Build screens and components while preserving design intent
  • Ensure consistency in spacing, typography, contrast, states, and alignment
  • Identify and fix UI inconsistencies proactively

2. Craft & “After Execution” (Key Differentiator)
  • Implement micro-interactions, transitions, and haptics
  • Ensure complete states (loading, empty, error)
  • Maintain accessibility and performance standards
  • Continuously refine and elevate product quality

3. Product Thinking
  • Understand the problem and expected impact before building
  • Use data (e.g., Amplitude) to validate decisions
  • Align execution with business and user outcomes

4. Proactivity & Ownership (Core Expectation)
  • Do not wait for final designs—propose solutions when needed
  • Make design decisions during execution (e.g., motion, contrast, UI treatments)
  • Take initiative and act as a design expert
  • Seek feedback early and iteratively

5. Collaboration & Alignment
  • Work closely with Product Designers and Engineering teams
  • Align with the design system
  • Ensure consistency across platforms (web and mobile)
  • Share learnings across teams

6. Tools & Workflow (Including VibeCode)
  • Use VibeCode to accelerate exploration and implementation
  • Maintain quality and design standards while using automation

Quality Guardrails
  • Maintain high standards for interaction, motion, spacing, and typography
  • Validate outputs on real devices and edge cases
  • Refactor the generated code before shipping
  • Ensure accessibility, performance, and complete states

Required Skills & Competencies
  • Attention to detail (core): strong visual and consistency awareness
  • Design + Code fluency: ability to interpret specs and build components
  • UX judgment: focus on how experiences feel, not just how they look
  • Motion & interaction design: timing, easing, gestures, haptics
  • Communication: ability to explain trade-offs and propose solutions

Expectations
  • Own the design during execution—do not wait for full specifications
  • Identify and fix inconsistencies proactively
  • Use VibeCode responsibly (accelerate, then refine and standardize)
  • Protect experience quality and visual standards
  • Deliver production-ready work (including accessibility and performance)
  • Collaborate closely with Design and Engineering
  • Communicate constraints, trade-offs, and decisions clearly

Typical Outputs
  • High-fidelity components and screens ready for production
  • Micro-interaction and polish improvements
  • Identified gaps between design and implementation with solutions
  • Lightweight documentation of interaction and motion decisions

Success Metrics
  • Reduced the mismatch between Figma and production
  • Improved product quality and “premium” feel
  • Less rework in later development stages
  • Ability to move initiatives forward independently with strong judgment

Working Principles
  • Before execution: understand problem, intent, and success metrics
  • After execution: do not ship until the experience is polished

Perks and Benefits
  • Inclusive, mission-driven workplace culture.
  • Competitive salary + performance-based commission and incentives.
  • Monthly mileage reimbursement.
  • Health, dental, vision and life insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Paid vacation and sick leave.
  • Tuition assistance.
  • Tools & training to set you up for success.
  • A chance to grow your career in a mission-driven global company.
