Job Description
Description :
foundry10 is an education research organization with a philanthropic focus on expanding ideas about learning and creating direct value for youth. In collaboration with a wide range of partners, we surface, evaluate, and share opportunities to better support youth learning both inside and outside the classroom. Building on more than a decade of impactful work, our unique approach blends applied and experimental research, philanthropy, and education programs rooted in evidence-based best practices.
Summary of Role
We’re seeking an experienced multimedia professional to join our Communications team in a new leadership role that balances hands-on content creation with high-level strategy, brand stewardship, and people and process management. This role will help continually drive foundry10’s visual storytelling forward by overseeing and directly contributing to content production across multiple formats, including videos (short- and long-form), photography, presentations, graphics, reports, and print collateral.
The Visual Content Lead will be responsible for ensuring outputs are not only brand-aligned and high-quality but also demonstrably support organizational strategic priorities and deliver impact. As part of that responsibility, they will be instrumental in shaping and executing visual content strategies at the team and organization level.
This position will collaborate with and provide coaching to staff members across the Communications team and foundry10 as a whole, including two direct reports : a Multimedia Specialist and Graphic Designer. In addition to leading and mentoring, they will personally contribute to content creation for priority projects, including capturing original video footage and photography, directing shoots, editing and publishing visual media for digital and print channels, developing presentation slides, preparing scripts / storyboards, and occasionally executing graphic design and layout tasks. They will also work closely with our Multimedia Project Manager and Communications Coordinator to manage project timelines, budgets, and equipment, and coordinate on additional media capture support beyond their direct reports.
The ideal candidate will thrive with a “player-coach” leadership style, managing their own workload while supporting the growth and productivity of collaborators. They will have a proven ability to execute storytelling strategies and turn complex ideas into clear, persuasive visual content to meet audience engagement goals, including exceptional experience with all phases of the video production process. They will also possess strong presentation skills, graphic design expertise, interpersonal abilities, and creative confidence. Comfort navigating and guiding others through ambiguity will also be key, especially since this is a new role.
This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $87,900 to $146,500, reporting to the Director of Communications and Storytelling.
We are not able to sponsor visa applications, and to be considered for this position, you must be eligible to work in the United States. To protect our staff, partners, and the youth we serve, we require all employees to adhere to our masking and COVID testing policies when working in person.
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor our Multimedia Specialist and Graphic Designer, ensuring strong performance, professional growth, and consistently excellent outputs.
- Oversee story development across the team’s video / visual projects, including creating and editing scripts, interview questions, storyboards, and shot lists as needed.
- Consistently meet organizational needs for video / photography capture through personal contributions and effective delegation and management of staff and contractors.
- Compose, render, and edit footage, photography, and graphics to produce polished visual media outputs, while reviewing and guiding contributions from direct reports.
- Support regular reviews / audits of internal and partner-produced presentations, conference materials, and other visual content, ensuring adherence to brand standards.
- Work closely with the Director of Communications and Storytelling to develop and implement strategies for the organization's video platforms (including YouTube), presentations, print collateral, and other visual content and distribution channels.
- Hold accountability for the team’s tracking and performance on key metrics across videos and other visual content, applying data to refine strategies.
- Occasionally step in to directly handle graphic design, layout, and illustration work as necessary, based on the capacity and priorities of direct reports.
- Supervise the Graphic Designer’s annual review and update process for the organization’s Visual Style Guide.
- Maintain oversight of multimedia asset storage by team members, ensuring compliance with organizational naming conventions, file standards, and risk policies.
- Stay updated with industry trends and innovations in multimedia visual storytelling, including AI applications and considerations for accessible and inclusive content.
