The Student Marketing & Graphic Design Assistant is responsible for the creation of various print and online media projects for Housing & Residential Experience. This position will work approximately 10-20 hours per week and will report to the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications. The student worker will focus on departmental branding materials and other graphic design projects as assigned.Job Responsibilities : Creates posters, digital signage, videos, flyers, web graphics, promotional materials, t-shirts to advertise and promote Housing & Residential Experience programs and activities.Includes meeting assigned deadlinesOrganizes and manages project filesKeeps digital displays up-to-dateUpdates annual documentsIncreases database of photos to be used in publications, website, promotional materials, etc.(Will include photos of residential spaces and residence experience programs)Must understand and work within University and Division of Student Affairs graphic standards and branding guidelinesAdditional responsibilities as neededMinimum Qualifications

Ability to work in a team setting.Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office Suites.Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally, and in writing.Possess a high sense of responsibility and customer service skills.Ability to solve problems independently.Organizational and time-management skills.Desired Qualifications

Preferred candidates will be a junior, senior, or graduate student in a University design or digital media program or related major.Must be an FIU student during the period of employment and be able to work 10-20 hours per week.Be in good academic and conduct standing with the University and Department of Housing and Residential Experience.Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher at time of hire.Can demonstrate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign).Knowledge of typography and ability to create layouts for both print and online platforms.On top of the latest social media trends and marketing tools.Ability to craft compelling messages through storytelling and scriptwriting.A basic understanding of Housing & Residential Experience policies and procedures.Strong communication skills, timeliness, ability to work-independently and collaborate on projects.Display a willingness to learn, a good attitude, and dependability Strong quality service skills are requiredAbility to effectively and positively represent FIU and the Department of Housing and Residential Experience in print, online, video and other mediaJob Category
