Job Description

As a Product Graphic Designer at Intuitive, you will design product markings for robotics, medical instruments, and accessories, as well as create instructional documents and print packaging. Your work will play a key role in shaping the visual language of robotic-assisted surgery. This role is ideal for a designer with 3–7 years of experience who is passionate about improving lives through thoughtful, user-centered design.

You’ll help shape the visual language of robotic-assisted surgery. You’ll create elegant solutions to complex user challenges—translating technical requirements and ergonomic constraints into clear, intuitive graphics that guide users through critical workflows. Your work will distill the most important information for visual clarity, helping clinicians make fast, confident decisions in high-stakes environments.

You’ll contribute to elevating the brand across our entire ecosystem : robotic systems, surgical instruments, packaging, and instructions for use. Every graphic you design will be part of a larger system that supports usability, safety, and trust. You’ll collaborate with industrial designers, engineers, and clinical teams to ensure that every visual element is purposeful, manufacturable, and aligned with our mission to improve patient outcomes.

This is a role for designers who thrive on precision, storytelling, and impact—where your craft directly contributes to healing and innovation.

Position Description

As a Product Graphic Designer, you will be a key contributor to the User Experience Design team, responsible for creating graphics that enhance the clarity, usability, and aesthetic quality of our robotic-assisted surgical systems. You will work across multiple product lines and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that every graphic element—from instructional labels to interface visuals—supports intuitive user interaction and meets regulatory and manufacturing requirements.

This role requires a designer who is both creative and technically adept, capable of translating complex engineering and ergonomic requirements into elegant visual solutions. You will be expected to contribute projects independently, contribute to design strategy, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, iterative environment.

You’ll be joining a team that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning. Your work will directly impact the experience of surgeons, nurses, and technicians around the world, helping them perform life-changing procedures with confidence and precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to projects from concept through production, ensuring design intent is maintained.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including industrial design, mechanical engineering, human factors, product management, labeling, brand, packaging, and external vendors.
  • Interpret and iterate on feedback from design, formative results and engineering partners.
  • Create compelling presentations and visual stories to communicate design intent.
  • Sketch, ideate, and visualize concepts using Adobe Creative Cloud tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, KeyShot) and prototyping.
  • Partner with industrial, visual, and graphic design teams to ensure cohesive design execution.
  • Translate technical and ergonomic requirements into elegant, manufacturable solutions.
  • Contribute to multiple projects at various stages of development in a fast-paced environment.
  • Participate in user research, usability testing, and clinical research labs.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, User Experience Design, or a related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in product development, industrial design, or medical device design.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating understanding of scale, proportion, color, form, typography, and presentation.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud; ability to produce high-fidelity comps and visual assets.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software (for viewing parts and assemblies) is a plus.
  • Excellent storytelling and presentation skills with a user-centered design perspective.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and deliver high-quality design outcomes.
  • Ideal Candidate Attributes

  • Passionate about designing meaningful, impactful products.
  • Curious about user behavior and eager to learn through research and testing.
  • Thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys brainstorming and presenting ideas.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Organized, reliable, and committed to design excellence.
  • Refined aesthetic sensibility and artistic skill.
  • Experience with regulated products or medical device design is a plus.
  • Please include your design portfolio as part of the application.
  • Additional Information

Due to the nature of our business and the role, please note that Intuitive and / or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19. Details can vary by role.
