Job description

You've put in the years.

You know Teknion inside and out.

You can walk into a blank space and already see what it becomes.

Now you want a role that matches your level, with a team that's serious about design, a company that's growing, and work that matters beyond the office walls.

This is that role.

WHO YOU'LL BE WORKING FOR Our client is one of the most respected commercial furniture dealers in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

They've grown from a single office in 1995 to a multi-city powerhouse with locations spanning Philadelphia, New York, Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, and Raleigh.

That growth didn't happen by accident.

It happened because of an unwavering commitment to design excellence, a 30-year partnership with Teknion, and a team of people who genuinely care about the work they do and the clients they serve.

This is also a Great Place to Work certified company, an honor that speaks directly to the culture they've built.

They give back too.

The entire company shuts down once a year for a company-wide day of service, and employees are encouraged to donate a minimum of 20 hours annually to local charitable programs.

Over the last two years, the team has logged over 2,000 volunteer hours supporting organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, the Wounded Warrior Project, and dozens more.

If that sounds like your kind of culture, you'll fit right in.

The client name is confidential and will be shared with qualified candidates during the interview process.

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a brand-new role, added as the Philadelphia team continues to grow.

You'll join a tight-knit team of 4 designers, reporting directly to the Director of Design, and take full ownership of commercial projects from initial programming through final installation documents.

You'll partner with 1 to 5 sales reps, manage an average of 10 active projects at a time, and be a regular presence with clients, sometimes with multiple touchpoints in a single week.

If you love variety, client relationships, and the satisfaction of seeing a project through from blank page to finished space, you'll thrive here.

This is a hybrid role.

You'll be in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in Center City Philadelphia, with remote flexibility the remaining days.

This role is ideal for candidates already located in the Philadelphia metro area or within commuting distance.

This role offers a highly competitive total compensation package, including a strong base salary and eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING - Lead space planning and develop fit plans for commercial projects - Coordinate all phases of the design process with sales reps and customers - Develop final approved plans and deliver polished client presentations - Produce drawings, calculations, cost estimates, and full specifications - Conduct site visits and field measurements as needed - Ensure code and regulation compliance throughout each project - Prepare installation drawings and manage changes and revisions - Upload current working plans with dimensions to PlanGrid - Maintain thorough project documentation including decisions, approvals, and meeting notes - Communicate regularly with the PM and Director of Design on project status - Research ancillary products and assist with final proposals - Partner with management to ensure consistency in design processes across offices WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR You're a seasoned commercial designer who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and holds yourself to a high standard because that's simply who you are. - Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or equivalent experience - 5+ years of experience in a commercial design role - 3 to 5 years of hands-on CET experience - Excellent Teknion product knowledge - Proficient in SketchUp, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Deadline-driven with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset - A collaborative team player who brings positivity and lifts the people around them ABOUT THIS SEARCH This search is being conducted by Key Executive Recruiting/KBD Associates.

We specialize in connecting exceptional commercial design talent with premier opportunities across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Key Executive Recruiting/KDB Associates and our client partner are equal opportunity employers.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
