Pay Grade : G - 03 ($2 1 . 00 - $ 26 . 25 hourly)

Job Summary

Incumbent is responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of United American Indian Involvement, Inc.'s (UAII's) employees, clients, visitors, and property. The Security Guard will be tasked with patrolling designated areas, responding to safety and security threats, and establishing a security presence. The incumbent will be trained on all site-specific policies and procedures relevant to their position and be expected to provide excellent customer service and assist in emergency response situations .

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Welcome visitors, sign them in, and direct them to the front office for check-in .

  • Monitor parking area to ensure employees, clients and visitors are parked in their designated spaces.
  • Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property, and access points throughout the day .
  • Communicate regularly with receptionist, admin staff, event lead or housing manager (if at housing property) regarding special events or visits that might impact parking or require a heightened level of security.
  • Assume overall responsibility for the safety and security of designated areas.
  • Identify potential security risks and respond accordingly.
  • Complete incident reports and documentation needed for all security incidents.
  • Ensure all employees (or residents) and visitors have proper credentials for accessing buildings (ID badges and passes).
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents within designated areas promptly and according to policy.
  • Assist or redirect employees (or housing residents) and visitors with any concerns they might have .
  • Escalate emergencies to law enforcement as needed .
  • Be always alert to your surrounding .
  • Monitor alarms and security cameras.
  • Write up incident reports and daily reports of ongoings at the assigned building or event.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned .

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)

  • High School Diploma , GED; or three (3) years of experience as a security guard.
  • One (1) years of experience as a security guard or a similar role.
  • Guard Registration from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services.
  • A combination of experience, education, and training may substitute for degree requirements on a year for year basis .
  • Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience)

  • Four ( 4 ) years of experience as a security guard.
  • Tear Gas / Self Defense Certification.
  • First A ID / CPR certification.
  • Experience working with the American Indian / Alaskan Native community .
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations, community groups, and performance-based government contracts .
  • Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (PL93-638).
  • Knowledge of Title V of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (PL 94-437).
  • Knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (PL 111-148).
  • Strong understanding and sensitivity to American Indian / Alaska Native (AI / AN) culture s and lifestyle s , and work effectively with A I / AN population.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills with sensitivity to lifestyles of targeted participants.
  • Skills in operating personal computer using a variety of computer software (Microsoft Office, Adobe, Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
  • Ability to maintain Guard Card renewal.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of client and personnel information, and comply with all applicable federal and state privacy laws, as well as UAII policy (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret government regulations, contracts, and other documents.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management, coworkers, and outside contacts.
  • Ability to keep up with a fast-paced environment .
  • Ability to learn and apply program / agency operating policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with various people on various, and at times, complex issues.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
