Job Description
This position is grant funded. Therefore, it is solely dependent on availability of grant.
Provides mental health counseling to City residents. Schedules appointments, maintains documentation for counseling sessions, and prepares treatment plan to ensure positive patient outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Conducts initial clinical assessments on patients and Screens for substance abuse, including physical and mental health status
- Provides mental health counseling and case management services
- Works with clients to overcome and manage different mental and emotional challenges; provides intensive evidence-based treatments to address each client's individual mental health needs.
- Documents and maintains certifications, medical visits, assessments, recommendations, referrals, and outcomes
- Gathers program data of outpatient ambulatory services for clinical quality management
- Serves as advocate for client's rights within the community
- Must successfully complete all AOT training modules within 30 days of initial hire
- Must complete all trainings required of new hires, including any training required by SAMHSA, and AOT, within established timeframes
- Will be required to drive a city vehicle for city business use
- Performs related work as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Proof of TB Test / Screening will be required to be presented prior to employment.

Valid Licensed Professional Counselor License from the Texas Department of State Health Services must be obtained within 12 months of employment
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
