Tampa YMCATampa, FL, USYMCA Gymnastics Coaches manage team practices for their assigned competitive levels for children from 4 to 17 years of age. Coaches ensure team practices are run safely, consistently, efficiently and effectively. Coaches work with gymnasts, hands-on, and ensure that team gymnasts advance at appropriate levels and are trained and prepared competitions.
Essential functions and responsibilities includes, but not limited to :
- Works closely with the Gymnastics Director, and other coaches, to attain the best results for the team and individuals.
- Develops weekly lesson plans to assist in program development and individual progression of skills.
- Instruct participants in USAG compulsory routines on Floor Exercise, Balance Beam, Uneven Bars, Vault.
- Observe participants and communicate ways to improve techniques learned.
- Communicate effectively with youth of varying ages.
- Travels and attends weekend competitions with the team gymnasts.
- Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations and the use of gymnastics equipment.
Completes all job related and other training's as required.
Additional certifications may be required based on the coaching level. Certifications could include a Certified AAU Athletic member, registered with the state of Florida, USAG Safety Certification and USAG Professional Member.
Required
1 year : Experience working or participating in gymnastics.
Knowledge of all four USAG compulsory routines on Floor Exercise, Balance Beam, Uneven Bars, Vault.
This position requires the ability to adjust from sitting to standing with ease and ability to standing for long periods of time.
This position requires the ability to lift and carry a minimum of 30 lbs.
This position may require reliable transportation and willing to travel, if needed.
This position requires availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred
Experience working and communicating effectively with gymnasts, parents, and gymnastics personnel.
