Hardware Quality Engineer
Location : Andover, MA
Work Schedule : 9 / 80 (Nine-hour workdays with alternating Fridays off)
Clearance Required : Secret (Clearance not required to start but must be able to attain)
Education : Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience
Experience : Minimum of 2 years in manufacturing quality engineering or a related field
Position Overview
We are seeking a Hardware Quality Engineer to join our Operations Quality Team and ensure product and process compliance while driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role will play a critical part in supporting product quality, compliance with industry standards, and driving manufacturing process enhancements. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in hardware quality engineering , process improvement methodologies , and supplier quality management .
Key Responsibilities
- First Article Inspections (FAI) : Conduct FAIs per AS9102 Rev C to ensure compliance with industry and customer standards.
- Process Improvement : Perform process walks, operator observations, and manufacturing team discussions to identify areas for reducing variation and improving efficiency.
- Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) : Drive APQP initiatives, including Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) using baseline metrics and projected demand.
- Supplier Quality Management : Identify supplier escapes / issues, implement corrective actions, and collaborate with Supplier Quality Management teams to ensure supplier compliance.
- Verification & Validation : Conduct verification and validation of process improvements to assess effectiveness and maintain quality control.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure adherence to quality standards and process control techniques.
- Defect Prevention : Participate in Continuous Improvement Projects and Defect Prevention Teams to address quality concerns proactively.
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in facilitating cross-functional teams using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
Strong understanding of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques
ASQ certifications (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt) are highly desirable
