Description
Job Summary
The Program Head for the St. Francis Football Team provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for the entire football program (Varsity, JV, and Freshman). The coach embodies the school’s mission to develop faithful men, loving brothers, virtuous leaders, and dedicated learners through a football program that emphasizes discipline, brotherhood, and spiritual growth. Reporting directly to the Athletic Director, the Program Head ensures alignment with school values while fostering excellence in athletic performance, player safety, and character formation.
In addition to coaching duties, this position includes teaching a minimum of two academic classes as a Faculty Teacher (preferably Physical Education, but subject assignments may vary). The Program Head serves as a role model of Christian leadership, sportsmanship, and personal integrity, guiding student-athletes toward excellence on and off the field.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage all aspects of the football program (Varsity, JV, Freshman).
- Recruit, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and program staff.
- Develop practice plans emphasizing fundamentals, conditioning, and game preparation.
- Oversee game-day operations at Jim Bonds Stadium and Friedman Field.
- Ensure athlete eligibility and academic support in collaboration with counseling staff.
- Coordinate strength and conditioning schedules and safety protocols with trainers.
- Establish clear standards of conduct, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Promote team unity and spiritual formation through prayer and reflection.
- Manage program budget, equipment, and inventory with the Athletic Director.
- Engage with families, alumni, and booster clubs to support the program’s growth.
- Represent St. Francis High School positively at CIF meetings, clinics, and community events.
- Plans, teaches, supervises, and evaluates classroom instruction while ensuring student safety and mission alignment.
