About the Role
The Company is in search of a Head of Commercial Counsel to join their dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will be a key player in supporting complex commercial transactions, including SaaS, licensing, and strategic partnerships, while ensuring compliance with diverse legal and regulatory frameworks, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence. This role involves scaling, leading, and managing a global commercial legal team, and providing strategic legal advice to various business functions. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, business-minded individual with a JD and at least 10 years' of commercial law experience, including a strong background in technology or SaaS companies. Responsibilities for the Head of Commercial Counsel include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, as well as monitoring and interpreting legal developments related to data protection, technology, and AI. The role requires a leader who can foster a collaborative team culture, develop talent, and manage a team of global legal professionals. The candidate should have a proven track record in commercial and technology agreement negotiation, and the ability to provide clear, pragmatic, and commercially focused legal advice. Strong knowledge of enterprise software licensing, AI, SaaS, data protection, and intellectual property is essential, as is experience in advising on privacy, cybersecurity, and cross-border data transfer issues. The role demands an individual with excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, who is also adept at balancing legal risks with business needs.
