Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating the activities of all staff members that work with students in the classroom and for teaching students directly.

Job Responsibilities

• Assesses and evaluates student learning, following the guidelines of the state of Connecticut, LEAs, and School policies and procedures with respect to record keeping, documentation, reporting, assessing, etc.
• Teaches students through planning and individualizing instruction to meet each students goals and objectives as stated in the IEP.
• Manages student behavior according to the policies and procedures of the School. Communicates expectations for student achievement. Provides a safe and structured environment at all times, instituting therapeutic holds when safety is threatened.
• Consults with Principal regarding the Programs mission and operations to ensure they are in support of the Organizations overall mission. Develops positive culture in classroom.
• Participates in school staff meetings, PPTs and Treatment Team meetings, as appropriate.
• Works collaboratively as a team member with school staff members, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
• Works closely with educational assistants assigned to classroom and provides feedback to principal about educational assistants performance as needed.
• Performs other duties, as required.
