Job Overview:
This position is primarily responsible for coordinating education and training for both new and current Sterile Supply Processing (SSP) employees, under the supervision of the SSP Manager. Key responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for Sterile Supply staff across all SSP areas. The role requires adherence to and implementation of AAMI and AORN standards to meet departmental regulatory requirements.
In addition, this position supports professional development initiatives and leads efforts in researching, evaluating, and introducing new products and equipment. The educator will conduct or coordinate staff in-services and arrange vendor-led training sessions as needed.
Secondary duties may include providing education and training to ancillary departments both on-site and off-site, collaborating closely with Surgical Services, and contributing to the development and revision of departmental policies, procedures, competencies, job descriptions, and best practices.
The educator must demonstrate attention to detail, professionalism under pressure, and the ability to handle clerical and departmental assignments across Deaconess Midtown, Gateway, and Henderson Hospitals. Effective collaboration and communication with multiple departments are essential.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a team-oriented environment, maintain flexibility to train within ancillary departments, and participate in special projects or other assignments as needed.
Preferred Certification/License/Experience:
- CRCST/CIS or CST
- At least 3-5 consistent years' working in a sterile processing department (Required)
