Overview
The Clinical Educator assesses, plans, implements and evaluates ongoing and new curricula, promoting quality resident care and regulatory compliance through varied training programs, required documentation and tracking, and supports division wide infection prevention, education, and quality assurance initiatives. The primary responsibility of the Clinical Educator is to create curriculums and provide instruction that supports team members in developing and maintaining skills to provide quality resident care. The Educator performs Infection Prevention activities, to include surveillance for facility associated infections and / or communicable diseases and assures compliance with state / federal regulatory standards as they pertain to infection prevention / control matters throughout all departments within the facility. Educator collaborates with education and facility teams to develop and may travel to all Lifelong Health facilities and various RHS locations to present division wide educational programs for employee orientation, in-services, infection prevention, and annual updates, and as requested. The Educator performs Infection Prevention, Competency Evaluations and quality assurance activities, and conducts Nurse Aide Education Program and Medication Aide Training Program, as applicable. Works under the supervision of and has reporting responsibilities to the Director of Clinical Education. Exhibits high level of flexibility and adaptability to provide division support in all areas of education and infection prevention; may perform other duties as assigned.
What you will do
- Ensures that all regulatory and annually required education programs are offered regularly (i.e. BLS, First Aid, orientation, competency fairs, etc.). Ensures that all required sign in sheets are recorded in Netlearning and maintained in facility education records. Validates that new team member orientation paperwork is signed and retained as part of employee file. Ensures required training is offered, documented, and within state / federal regulations and RHS policy; tracks regulatory education requirements for team members and facility.
- Infection surveillance reports are completed timely and accurately. Utilizes data to identify trends, clusters, etc. and provide training, observations, and collaborates with facility leadership on implementation of new protocols and initiatives based on findings. Proactively seeks to prevent infections through real-time monitoring to identify emerging trends and clusters and advising and educating on intervention to disrupt that process. Reports trends and surveillance data to facility leadership monthly, and as needed. Reports data quarterly to QAPI committee, for follow up and change in facility practice.
- Utilizes varied teaching methods and platforms to consistently accomplish the goals and objectives of the division. Adapts presentation methods and scheduling to meet the needs of the facility. Develops and implements curricula that drive quality improvement on the facility and division level. Validates team member engagement through the use of surveys, practice observation, retention of new team members, and leadership feedback. Engages team members with effective communication regarding infection prevention and education initiatives. Promotes growth and development of team members.
- Demonstrates effective time management in performing assigned duties and responsibilities. Able to multi-task to meet the needs of division and facility. Ensures proficient new hire onboarding, timeliness of reports, tracking, communication, and observations.
- Builds positive relationships with team members, students, residents, families, visitors, and leadership. Fosters an environment of learning that facilitates professional collaboration among team members, facilities, and division. Represents Riverside Care Difference behaviors in all interactions. Contributes to and collaborates on all education and infection prevention initiatives; participates in QAPI, Safety Committee, COR, and other leadership meetings, as required.
