Child Care Attendant Supervisor

PURPOSE OF POSITION :

Childcare Supervisor designs, organizes, and implements childcare program within Marisol Homes and Samaritan House programs, drawing in and / or facilitating programming to meet the educational, social and emotional needs of all children and youth staying in shelter from infancy to the teenage years.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Applies appropriate techniques and standards in program development and service delivery.
  • Implements program objectives and performance standards as directed by supervisor / management, ensuring program compliance with all Child Care best practices.
  • Follows budget as set by manager. Provides input into process.
  • Maintains accurate and timely program statistical data to meet reporting requirements. Enters data and generates reports.
  • Maintains and managing staff schedules to ensure appropriate staff-to-child ratios are maintained for each childcare program at all times.
  • Assumes responsibility for childcare program.
  • Works with the children's program manager to facilitate development of program components which address the developmental, cognitive, physical and safety needs of children enrolled in the program and to ensure compliance with childcare best practices and safety standards.
  • Fosters family involvement by developing positive relationships with each child's family.
  • Participates with appropriate staff in identification, staffing, and service delivery for children with special needs and their families.
  • Establishes and manages child parent conferences to help support families in their engagement in children's programming.
  • Takes initiative to respond to crises that arise regarding the health and safety of children and families.
  • Is present on site while childcare is occurring monitoring childcare and acts as substitute in classroom.
  • Observes and monitors the childcare implementation in order to ensure that childcare staff are providing childcare to fidelity of best practices.
  • Understands and follows all fire regulations and other safety requirements.
  • Maintains childcare settings appearance to ensure safety and requests necessary repairs as needed.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Agency's values and policies, and applicable laws. Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance on an ongoing basis; developing, coaching, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Supports, promotes and adheres to Catholic Charities' vision, mission, values and Code of Ethics.
  • Reflects Catholic Charities' commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.
  • Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in childcare setting and familiarity with childcare best practices.
  • Skills for entering data, generating reports and creating communications
  • Ability to remember schedules, programs, policies, and other details.
  • Ability to remain calm and calm others in an emergency and / or confrontational situation.
  • Knowledge of the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.
  • EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

    Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from accredited college or technical school in Early Childhood Education or related field; and six months to one year related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Conflict resolution skills a plus, but not required

    22 Hourly - Work Schedule Mon-Fri 1130a-830p split between two sites downtown Denver / Lakewood
